Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure?

When we were in Vegas, Suzie and I took a break while on ‘trade show tour’ and headed to LA for a bit of surfing in Santa Monica. Thanks to kind weather and a great instructor we did pretty well for our first time…we both managed to catch a few waves standing up. I was mostly excited that I got to hang out in LA in a wetsuit and say things like ‘narly’ and ‘hang ten’

Here we are doing a demo before we caught out first waves.

Konichiwa!

Suzie and I took a whirlwind visit to Tokyo to get some design inspiration…we mastered the complex subway system, exploring so many amazing parts of the buzzing city. We returned home with plenty of design ideas, exploding with stories about their amazing consumer culture. Now we know why Gwen Stefani was so inspired by Harajuku! You’ve never seen anything like the fashion there. There’s a district for every type of style and a store for every kind of trinket.

As for the photo, that us in Tokyo at the Canadian consulate with a Japan/Canada representative and a journalist for Tokyo’s biggest fashion trade publication who did a story about Foxy Originals. Foxy was featured in an article that talked about new designers coming to Japan. The article was all in Japanese and all about Foxy…pretty neat!

Phoning home from London!

In April, we decided to hop on a plane to London, England to do a bit of shopping, gallivanting and most importantly, to learn what we could about the booming jewelry market in the United Kingdom. We spent our days exploring fantastic departments store like Selfridges http://www.selfridges.com/ and Harrods www.harrods.com and overworked out wallets at Top Shop! www.topshop.com (every british gal’s favourite shopping destination!) We enjoyed high tea with friends and spent much time on the tube going from one fabulous destination to the next. We timed our visit to coincide with the Pure Trade show http://www.purewomenswear.co.uk/ We were totally impressed by the companies exhibiting at the show and made a pact that we just HAD to be part of it within the next year.

The best thing that came out of the trip, (besides our great new clothing purchases) was that we picked up an AMAZING distributor in London….Yvonne from Temptation Jewellery. www.temptationjewellery.com Thanks to this relationship, Foxy is now being sold all over the UK…and as serendipity has it, Yvonne will be showing Foxy at the Pure Tradeshow this spring! We couldn’t be happier!
